For the sake of easing our drought crisis, I know this rain is great news. For the sake of my own superficial and super selfish happiness, I kinda hate it. I have been looking for some clever ways to get around the issues it brings me and I think this outfit hits all the marks I need to feel better about this much needed weather. Frizzy hair? Beanie. Seasonal affect disorder? Brightly colored apparel. Chapped lips? Hot pink gloss. Cold temps? Hot latte! General feelings of missing the sun? Chanel bag (I mean rock a vintage Chanel and tell me you’re still sad.) With a coat this fun I think I might be able to handle the rain after all…

How do you deal with a wet weather forecast?

Thanks for dropping by! xoxo,lovequint-egg_7e897

Leopard Print Dresses + Peter Pan Collars // A Weekend In Santa Barbara

Gressel and I spent the weekend in Santa Barbara at The Bacara Resort and Spa. Their grounds were so beautiful I felt like I was Alice in Wonderland. The weather was perfection (we were practically kissing the ground to escape LA’s oppressive heat wave) so I was happy to take the chance to glide through Santa Barbara in dresses and florals without sweating my face off. To my surprise we returned to a much cooler LA… in fact I was able to take an afternoon run on the Santa Monica stairs, sit in the apartment without feeling like I had taken up residence in a sauna…and guys, I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season. I guess I’m ready for Fall after all.

What do you wear on weekend getaways? Do you dress up or go more casual? Tell me in the comments below!

Weekend Wear // Indian Summer

When I step out to go to work or drinks with friends I like to feel polished. But when it’s me vs. a Los Angeles heat wave sans air co, I am all about being easy and free. To battle the 95 degree temps (in my apartment) I opted for denim cutoffs and flats. Always a sucker for a weekend graphic tee, I was giddy to find this cheeky “Day Off” muscle tank (I actually bought it for the gym). Since I couldn’t wait for my next Pilates date to take this new find out for a spin I paired it with a sparkling statement necklace and Rebecca Minkoff cross-body. Finally, the straw hat is seeing one of its last hoorahs as we say farewell to summer…had to include it.

How do you take on a heat wave?

Fashion Inspired By: Highlighters

When I was in college I was a major study bug. I used to hole myself up in a coffee shop with all of my text books and course readers and highlight away, I secretly loved it. By the time I was done for the day half of my materials were bright yellow. Maybe I miss those mid-week study sessions at The Coffee Bean, or maybe the warm weather just makes me crave neons? Whatever it is, I have been wearing a lot of yellow this summer and thought I would share a few of my favorite pieces.

It all started with these silly shoes! I got them from Target, I figured they would be perfect going to and from Pilates classes, but the bright color has made me want to wear them all the time, they are on sale for $11 right now, too…shwinggg!

Get Festive! Holiday Accessories and Footwear

The Holidays are in full swing and that means it is time to dress the part. Whether you have a holiday gathering to attend, or just like feeling “in the spirit” in class or at work, little touches to your outfit can put you in the holiday mood (that and maybe some pimpkin pie or a gingerbread latte? I’ll take it!)

Below are some of my picks for staying festive with your accesories!

Spirited heels are a must for the Holiday parties in winter, I love going glittery, red, and ruffely for the season! Possibly all three at once!

1) Sparkle Pumps, Piperlime (available in a very glam white version as well)

2) Red Ruffle Heels, TopShop

3) Ruffle Booties, Piperlime

4) Jessica Simpson Red Pumps, Piperlime

5) Black Glam Bow Pumps, Asos.com

Another great way to spice up your outfits with some holiday flair is to wear gold jewelry, add jewels and bows to a simple outfit (like a black sweater, or long sleeve tee and knee high boots) to jazz things up. Something about sparkling jewelry shouts holiday cheer!

1) Sparkle Jewel Ring, Asos.com

2) Disney Couture “Believe” Ring, Asos.com

3) Schmuck Ketten, Armb Ring, Asos.com

4) Lion Cameo Heart Stud Earrings, Asos.com

5) Stella Bracelet, Forever21.com

Headbands, (especially ones that glitter and shine, or have gold accenting) are a great way to add festivity to an outfit. Go with something simple for the rest of your outfit and use a headband to draw attention to your face and hair, or use a headband to amplify an already festive outfit.

1) Juicy Couture Headband, Revolve

2) Juicy Couture Black Stone And Chain Bow Headband, Asos.com

3) Juicy Ribbed Headband, Revolve

4) Black Velvet Turban, Nasty Gal

(bottom row left to right)

5) Lipsy Diamante Detail Hair Band, Asos.com

6) Small Bow, Revolve

7) Vintage Style Corsage Stretch Pearl Hairband, Asos.com

8) Juicy Couture | Juicy Couture Black And Crystal Rhinestone Headband, ASOS.com

A few more holiday favorites of mine? I have a bit of an obsession with leather gloves with extra details, makes me slightly sad LA will never be cold enough to justify these…but only slightly sad. Gold (extra points for beaded) belts, are a fab way to make a dress a bit snazzier, or to wear with a long sleeve top tucked into jeans. I am also dying over giant scarves that double as capes (maybe even a blanket?) so much so that they may deserve their own post. (Soon!) Lastly, tights are fantastic for holiday parties, but even better with a little glitter or shimmer!

1) Mango Tac Gloves, Asos.com

2) Deena and Ozzy’s belt, Urban Outfitters

3) Giant Sweater/Scarf, Urban Outfitters

4) Glitter tights, TopShop (Urban Outfitters also carries a few amazing pairs)
