old school

 Alrighty, today we’re takin’ it back to the old school. This outfit is 100% something I would have worn to my classes in college — skinny jeans, flats, basic top purchased on super super sale from Urban Outfitters. In fact, aside from the flats, everything here is something I purchased and wore back in my UCLA days. Right now I am all about reinventing the old rather than just bringing home new finds. Speaking of reinventing, there is a reason why I have been so quiet on the blog and social accounts this week…any guesses?

Sunshine makes me happier than anything else, so the chilly gloomy winters can be rough on my mood. We have been lucky enough to have some pretty moderate weather here in the bay the last few days, so naturally that means I tucked away the long pants and opted for a long sleeve shirt dress and popped on a brightly colored coat. One way to keep myself feeling a little fresher in winter is including a pop of color here and there. I love burgundy and emerald as much as the next girl, but how fun is a neon coat?

Well…looks like I am joining the chorus of Californians whining about how cold it is this week. But really, it’s cold. Clearly I wouldn’t have made it in Boston (where we almost moved instead of San Francisco.) But in all fairness…our wardrobes aren’t as well stocked as y’all in the rest of the country. Big coats? I mean… I have a cardigan? Will that work? Gloves? Mmmm, yeah that’s gonna require a Target run. As a girl who has a lot of clothes, I can safely say none of them have really prepared me. (But the floppy hat is fun even with its minimal warmth!) Guess I’ll need more layers tomorrow!

Happy Monday, y’all! Do me a favor, stop what you are doing, take a swig of that  latte and stop sulking in the fact that it’s Monday. I’ve said it before, but I’m kinda that weirdo that digs Mondays. Ya see, after years of being a cranky pain in the ass, I’ve armed myself with a few tricks. If you want your Mondays to feel fresher too, here is what always works for me:

• Sunday night beauty rituals // Whatever makes you feel fresher and prettier, do those things! You’ll start the week feeling like a million. On Sundays I face mask, gel polish, teeth whiten, the whole 9.
• Select your outfits // 6 am on a Monday morning, there is no way I am selecting anything remotely cohesive from my closet. (I like Mondays, but I’m not superhuman.) Pick out something cute the night before and eliminate 20 minutes of trying things on only to leave them lying on the floor.
• Caffeinate // When people tell me they don’t drink coffee, I cannot relate. On Mondays I splurge for an extra shot latte — sayonara Monday blues!
• Workout // Even if I achieve nothing all week, getting my workouts in makes me feel accomplished. Take some time on Monday to mark down when you’ll get to the gym and you’re already setting yourself up for a healthy week. (You can check out my December gym playlist here for extra motivation!)
• If all else fails, do as Mindy Kaling does and “put on some lipgloss and pretend to be PSYCHED.” Fake it til you make it, baby.

Fashion blogger Amber Fillerup Clark of Barefoot Blonde not only takes photos of her incredible adventures, stunning clothes, and overall sweet life, but is also pretty easy on the eyes herself! Her photos, hair, makeup, and fashions are always inspiring and fun!

{3} lemon stripes

Lemon Stripes blogger, Julia Dzafic, does it all. As an online boutique owner, fashion blogger, and delicious recipe creator, you can find a wide array of beautiful images on the Lemon Stripes Instagram account. I love that Julia is always smiling, it’s simply infectious!

{2} mandy faith

Mandy Faith runs a blog almost exclusively of imagery. Her photos always make me feel like I’ve stepped into a fairy tale. #swoon

{1} this is glamorous

This is Glamorous might just be my favorite Instagram account. The romantic images, whimsical filters, and vintage subjects make my heart swell. Plus, a girl who knows the value of fresh flowers is a girl I like.

Happy Hump Day! Do you ever wake up and say to yourself “I want to look like a chic version of Minnie Mouse on her way to a business meeting?” Me either, but if I did ever wake up with that desire this is totally what I’d wear. Polka dots + red lips is almost always a winning combo.

Happy Tuesday, guys! This morning I was crossing the street to get to the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero in San Francisco. I looked to my right to watch for possible speeding light rail cars and buses when I had this weird moment of “Who am and where am I?” The Megan from 5 months ago wouldn’t recognize this Megan. It’s crazy how fast life changes. Five months ago Gressel and I were saying on a regular basis “we’ll never leave LA.” And here we are…

So I’ll tackle all these new changes the way I handle any new changes; with loads of glitter & massive amounts of coffee!
