I wish I were one of those cool girls who didn’t care about Valentine’s Day and was above all the pomp and circumstance, but…. I am so not that girl. I am a big believer that if there is something to be celebrated, I am gonna celebrate it DAMNIT! Birthdays, holidays, Tuesday, raise at work, finished a book, a yoga class, drank enough water for the day…whatever (mundane thing…) it all deserves attention in my book. Life is short so I never want to miss an opportunity to pop champagne or eat a honkin’ slice of cake!

Have y’all met Koshy? Kosher is my 3 year old west highland terrier/maltese fur baby. Gressel and I adopted this little monster just about a year ago and he has made the last year brighter and more amazing than we ever could have imagined. Kosher was rescued by Forte Animal Rescue after he was abandoned at a high kill shelter. He was malnourished, sick, his fur was a tangled mess, but in spite of all Kosher was a smiling pile of love when we met him. He had a grin from ear to ear and was as playful as can be. He also has a severe underbite and sits all crooked with his back legs out to the side and his front legs in a perfect plie like a ballerina — two things I simply adore about him. When we saw him we knew he was the next member of our family. Kosher celebrates his one year adoption birthday with us this Sunday and I couldn’t be happier to have this little man in my life! I’m simply smitten.

Ahoy mateys! I don’t know if you guys know this about me, but I am a total sucker for animals. I can’t walk past a dog without raising my voice an octave and a half, bending down and saying “well herrrroooooo puppppppyyyyy face,” usually totally ignoring the owner (oops!) I also have been known to do this with snails “Hiiiii, Mistaaaah Shnail!” …and kitties “Hey meow meow!” so when Justin* and I saw ducks at the park it was over. “Quick, gimme your granola bar, I wanna feed these lil monsters!” to which Justin said “Uh, no.” Thanks for keeping it real Justin. Granola bars aren’t good for ducks anyhow.

We meet again, Monday. Guys, I gotta tell ya, after the weeks of break during the holidays I am just not feeling this work day grind. Once I get there, sure fine. Golden, even… but the 5:30 am wake up call? The train ride, where, inevitably someone is clipping their nails? (Yes, this happens regularly.) I mean I really just can’t. To perk myself up I picked up a few ladylike dresses. This one sort of reminds me of DVF, only it was a total steal on sale at Gap! Paired with my favorite t-strap studded pumps and oh-so-cool blue aviators and I might just actually be ready to do this Monday thing…

farewell 2013!

I saw this dress while browsing Tobi.com and had to have it. Sure I had already picked out my NYE 2014 dress weeks prior, but as we discussed yesterday, sequins are a neutral. And even if they’re not…they should be(along with leopard and camo print.) So while this dazzling number won’t be my outfit for the champagne filled evening, it will serve me well for many fun evenings to come I am sure. The best part about this dress is it needs nothing else, simple heels a bold lip and maybe a statement necklace (because why the heck not) and you’re out the door. LOVE.
